Chris Chavez

Chris Chavez founded CITIUS MAG in 2016 while working at Sports Illustrated and made the running media company his full-time pursuit in 2021. Raised in New York, he attended Marquette University. Alongside covering professional track and road racing, he has pursued his own marathon goals and completed the original six World Marathon Majors. [1]

At the 2024 Houston Marathon, Chavez reported finishing in 2:59:12, achieving a long-standing sub-three-hour goal about ten years into his marathoning career. He discussed the race with Ali Feller on both the CITIUS MAG Podcast and Ali on the Run. That result belongs to the CITIUS founder; the faster Olympic Club athlete with the same name is a different runner. [2][3]
