About Jacob Heslington
Jacob Heslington, who also races as Jake, brought a steeplechase and cross-country background to the marathon. At BYU he earned All-America recognition in cross country and the indoor 5,000 meters, and placed 10th and 12th in the NCAA steeplechase finals in 2017 and 2019. His later road career included winning the 2022 Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. [1]
Heslington qualified for his first Olympic Marathon Trials by running 2:17:40 at Grandma’s Marathon in 2023. His Orlando organizer profile identified him as a Run Elite Program athlete and an engineer at Merit Medical, placing his training alongside work outside the sport. The Trials supplied another step forward: the B.A.A.’s subsequent Boston field announcement listed his 2:15:12 from Orlando as his entry mark. His development shows a collegiate track specialist extending his range while maintaining an engineering career. [1][2]
