Whitney Macon

Whitney Macon’s career connects championship cross country, marathon racing and collegiate coaching. She graduated from Harvard in 2015 after earning All-Ivy League and USTFCCCA academic honors. She then competed for New Mexico while earning a master’s degree in sport administration and was a scoring member of the Lobos’ 2015 NCAA Division I championship cross-country team. [1]

After college, Macon qualified for two Olympic Marathon Trials. MIT’s coaching biography records that continued competitive career alongside her move into coaching: she spent her first two seasons with the Engineers as a volunteer assistant before joining the staff in 2024–25. Her marathon qualifying performance for the 2024 Trials was 2:32:48 at Rotterdam in 2022. The combination of racing and coaching gives her marathon results a wider context, carrying experience from two collegiate programs into work with another generation of distance runners. [1][2]
