Zachary Kinne

Zachary Kinne, known as Zach in his Duke collegiate career, arrived with a strong high-school cross-country background. After competing at Neuqua Valley in Illinois, he finished school at North Allegheny in Pennsylvania, helping the team win the state cross-country championship. Duke’s signing announcement highlighted that experience before he joined the Blue Devils in 2019. [1]

At Duke, Kinne developed across track and cross country, earning ACC Freshman of the Week recognition and later helping the team finish 16th at the NCAA cross-country championships. His collegiate record includes a 23:41.0 8K at the ACC championships. The move to road marathons extended that distance-running background: World Athletics records his 2:17:46 at the 2026 Houston Marathon, a substantially longer test than the collegiate races in which he first established himself.
